I just learned that the phrase "sell like hotcakes" has nothing to do with the tasty McDonald's breakfast item...  Courtesy of minnesotajobs.com: "In the early 1800's, hotcakes were the popular fast food at carnivals and country fairs. Anyone who set up a hot cake was sure to make a killing." I was working at McDonald's circa 1997 when they switched to frozen hotcakes - they used to employ quite a contraption to funnel & dispense a uniform amount of batter on the grill. PS: this is post #777, hence the title.

When one does not live in a house, one has little reason to venture into Home Depot. I just needed some fatty screws to finish putting my desk back together, but ended up spending 45 minutes wandering around remembering how much I love that place - the smell of lumber, the 92 foot ceilings, the funk of testosterone...

What? No mention of World Cup on your blog? Aren't you the guy who successfully convinced me that Adidas (the popular athletic brand) was really an acronym for "All Day I Dream About Soccer"?? Yeah. I'm not sure why, but I decided to borrow Jeff's ladder and clean the layers of dust off the ductwork in my apartment tonight. It's provided a plethora of sneezes, and some unique perspectives on my place. The smell is oddly reminiscent of the basement at Grandma & Grandpa Johnson's old house on Main street.
