Did you know?

That bowling at Park Tavern is free on Mondays after 9 PM, and only $1 on Sundays after 9 PM?

See you there...

M&M, Again

Back in February, I became an M&M.

Today, I learned that they launched the site by building a 50 foot M&M Lady Liberty and floating it around Manhattan.

Thanks, washingtonpost!

About half my dad's shots ended up laying behind a tree trunk like this...

Published Photographer?!?

I was catching up on unread blog posts a couple weeks ago when I came across FlickrBlog's announcement about their 24 Hours of Flickr project...

"...a day-long global photo project. On May 5, 2007, grab your camera and whatever else you need, and chronicle your day in pictures. The group's photos will be featured at Flickr events around the world this summer and in a companion book, which will contain a selection of photographs chosen from the group..."

I barely remembered to snap a few photos that day, but one was decent enough to make it into the book! I got this e-mail earlier today:

"Greetings from Flickr HQ. The photo you submitted into Flickr's "24 Hours of Flickr" group has been chosen to appear in Flickr's "24 Hours of Flickr" book!"

You can imagine my excitement, since photographers whose images are used get a free copy of the book :) I should acknowledge that the e-mail also said:

"While we are nearly certain your photo is going to be used in the book and in our promotions, there is still the small chance that it may not."

Cross your fingers...

  • That's awesome man. How exciting to have something you created be published!

p.s. What's with the blue background on your blog and same-colored blue hyperlinks? I'm assuming it isn't just my IE. Did you change something while viewing through a Mac browser, and never checked on a Microsoft pc?

  • I wonder what it's like to have a published photo?

I Hope it's a Typo

Is the Twins' starting pitching so bad that they've made Joe Nathan a starter?!?

Tracy, do you know anything about this?

Wet Cartwheels Redux

Looks like it will be another rainy morning and 50 cartwheels for me - sounds an awful lot like last year!

Billboard-less Brazil

São Paulo has banned all outdoor advertising effective 1/1/08.

Not surprisingly, advertisers don't think this is a very good idea.

I was amused by a few of their arguments, including that "streets will be less safe at night with the loss of lighting from outdoor advertising" and that "when you're in your car or alone on foot, [ads are] a form of entertainment that helps relieve solitude and boredom."

  • Is it just me, or with the new blue background (which I really do like)...I'm missing the links! Some of the sentences have words missing!! Of course, that does make the blog extra "exciting" because now I have to use my mouse to 'find' all the links and 'hidden' things... so ... there's always an up-side, right?

  • it's not just you. michael is working on a new blog template for me, and the CSS he created has somehow taken over my current template. i'm glad to hear you like the blue, since that's one of the colors in his new layout. stay tuned!

Timely Fundraising Article

I don't consider myself an "Extreme Fundraiser", but the article does a good job of capturing why I decided to do Cartwheels for a Cure...

I'm Bringin' Cartwheels Back...

This year's Race For the Cure is next Sunday 5/13, and I'm bringing back the cartwheels! I did 50 last year and raised $500, and want to do 100 this time around :)

Since I didn't have iMovie back then, check out my latest work to see me in action at last year's event:

For each $10 you donate by 5/12/07, I will dedicate a cartwheel(s) to you during this year's race and e-mail you a photo (suitable for framing) of your cartwheel(s).

Click here to donate, and thanks so much for your support!

iGoogle

I always wondered why the Google personal homepage URL was google.com/ig, but not enough to spend 10 seconds thinking about what "ig" might stand for...

Rhetorical Question

Winners of the 11th Annual Webby Awards were announced today.

Webbys is to Websites as
Grammys is to Music as
Oscars is to Movies as
Emmys is to Television. You get the idea.

Scrolling through the list reminds me how much great stuff there is on the Internets, which then makes me wonder why you would take the time to read this?

I'm proud to see that I'm a user of several "winning" websites, and have mentioned more than a few here at one point or another. But you should peruse the list for yourself, because I can pretty much guarantee that you'll find something that you had never heard of and all of a sudden can't live without...

WikiWikiWiki

Of course, there is a Wikipedia article in Wikipedia. Why did it take me this long to wonder if it existed?
