25 minutes and counting...

While packing up my room, I discovered a coupon for a free wine tasting at the nearby Lodi Wine & Visitors Center. Since it doesn't open until 10, I'm going to catch up on some writing...

California has been an incredible experience. The weather is absolutely gorgeous, most of the cities I have visited have impressed me, and the tour of the plant yesterday was pretty cool. That being said, I have been surprised at how mixed my emotions have been during this trip. I may have temporarily turned into a woman, because my mood has swung more in the past couple of days than a married couple that sleeps with other people on an hourly basis.

Greg and I had a fantastic dinner last night at the Wine & Roses Restaurant. I'm glad I took him up on the offer, it was a reassuring and informative experience. I expect to hear back from the folks at the plant as early as tomorrow, so that will hopefully quell some of the uncertainty I am currently feeling.

Another emotion I didn't expect to feel during this trip was the sheer distance between northern California and back home in the Midwest. Greg & Natalie have spent the past 2 years doing a lot of the same "adventures" that I hope to experience while working at the plant, and his comment that they didn't regret the decision to move out here was a fantastic thing to hear. He always seems to say the right thing to put me at ease.
