Candlestick Point

After I got us lost looking for the Mission district in San Francisco, Dan and I were wondering why the peninsula where Monster "Candlestick" Park is called Candlestick Point.



Turns out the early settlers would burn ships off the point, and the last part sinking into the water resembled a candlestick. Now you know.

• Interesting story about candlestick park...I am sure when I get on 'Jeopardy' it will come in handy when I am breaking Ken Jennings record.
