To Tip or Not To Top
"Let me guess. Lodi?"
I didn't even have to tell the courtesy shuttle driver where I work, that's how many times I've brought my car in to Stockton Mazda. Today is the last hurrah before I kiss the warranty goodbye, so they are just checking into a few creaks & squeaks to make sure things don't fall apart 2 minutes after the odometer rolls over 48,000 miles.
After he dropped me off and we made arrangements for the pickup this afternoon, I started to wonder - should I be tipping this guy? It's the same kid who will hand wash my car after they are done working on it this afternoon. But this is all under warranty, so I'm not sure what the etiquette is.
Suggestions?

My tipping advice is that location is the biggest factor: East coast - you'd tip him, Midwest - you wouldn't. You'll have to ask all your Cali peeps about local etiquette but I bet no.

I would have to agree with Laura on this one. I am one thrifty individual so the company "drop off boy" would be hard pressed to get a George Washington from me. On the other hand, if you do get your car detailed you should almost always tip. That is unless the previously stated detailer does a piss poor job. In which case the only tip rendered should be an explanation of how to properly detail a vehicle. Jason
