Apples to Apples
Apple made a record-breaking billion dollar profit last quarter, fueled primarily by the 21 million iPods they sold. As a new MacBook owner, I was more interested in how laptop sales contributed...
Turns out they sold almost a million laptops in the last 3 months of the year, a tiny improvement from the 587,000 sold near the end of 2005. Looking at the revenue from those sales, it appears each laptop sold for $1700 (on average) compared to $1389 last year.
A direct comparison isn't really fair however, since Apple was selling the G4 iBook and Powerbook in 2005 and the MacBook (and Pro) in 2006. Lots of good comparative pictures on Flickr...

PS: Have you ever played the board game I named this post over? It's fun.Labels: apple, macbook, numbers

Apples to Apples is a great game. Unless you are playing at the Muckenhirn's house...they get really competitive.
