MN Loves Shopping

Watching a Rocketboom video about the Mall of America taught me lots...

  • Southdale was the world's first climate-controlled mall, and
  • has only been open 50 years (I would have guessed malls were older)
  • A mini golf course is opening at the MOA in July
  • There is a red chair from Met Stadium hanging on the wall in the park (I thought only the home plate indicated what was there before the mall)
  • Phase II is going to nearly double the size of the mall
  • The website for Phase II includes a cheesy video and photos you have to download to actually see, but
  • at least it has RSS!

  • There actually used to be a mini golf course (complete with mountain)in MOA in the same spot. Then it closed and Cereal World (among other things) moved in. Just like famous philosopher Justin Timberlake says, "What goes around, comes back around."

  • If you're a true Twins fan, you should know the significance behind the red chair hanging on the wall.

  • I haven't checked this in awhile...but I see you did update today. Glad to see from the pics that you still call/hang out with some of your friends.
