YouTube + How To = 5min

As much as I love YouTube, I am usually dumber after spending time there.

Which is why I was so excited to read about 5min in Iconowatch...

Another clever name would have been HowTube, but that appears to be an infrequently-updated podcast about how to do stuff with your Mac.

Which leads me to something I've been thinking about for awhile... Is there any good way to learn about "sites like this" on the web? For example, I type in Google and it spits back Yahoo, Ask, MSN, etc. Or I type in Facebook and it spits back MySpace, Bebo, Xanga, etc.

Those are obvious examples, but how often do you learn about some fancy new website (hopefully from me) and wonder if there's another website that does the same/similar thing? Surely something like that exists...

  • What I don't understand is that compared to most of my friends, I'm in the know. So if I'm in the know, then you're really in the know...yet we obviously stumble across these websites after thousands have already published material to them.

Is it a Midwest thing? Will we ever be the first upload of the next YouTube?

  • I love reading your blog.. but I'm starting to get bored with the 'hunt with your mouse for the links'-game... Updating that any time soon? ;op
